We encourage you to call us at 559-486-0520 before
coming in so that we can be best prepared for your arrival.

Your pet will be treated as soon as possible, on a triage basis, which means cases will be prioritized according to severity of illness. Every effort will be made to assure your pets comfort and safety while awaiting treatment. Please call Veterinary Emergency Service Inc at 559-486-0520 prior to arrival (if possible) to allow our staff to be ready for your pet.

Your regular veterinarian however should treat an illness that is non emergent. Routine vaccinations, worming, neutering, are not performed at Veterinary Emergency Service.

The following pet conditions, as a general rule,
require immediate medical attention:

Hit by a car/vehicle Lameness (limping)
Coughing Wheezing or difficulty breathing
Sneezing Prolonged labor
Pale gums Suspected poisoning
Convulsions/Seizures Exposure to toxin or non-prescribed medication
Excessive thirst Injury
Excessive urination Bloating
Straining to urinate Difficulty urinating
Nasal discharge Facial swelling and/or hives
Trauma Wound and/or laceration
Bloated or distended abdomen Persistent or severe vomiting or diarrhea
Suddenly unable to use a limb Having difficulty giving birth

Do not give your pet ANY medication or supplement without first checking with your veterinarian. Some common human medications can be toxic, even in small doses to your pet.

Note: The above are common symptoms that may require emergency care. The list is NOT all inclusive and are not all of the possible emergency symptoms. If at any time you feel your pet needs to be evaluated please contact our hospital at 559-486-0520 and bring your pet in to be seen.

USE CAUTION!

If your pet is injured or in pain it is possible that your loved one may not be themselves and try to bite. This is a common reaction to pain and you should take caution in handling your pet for both your saftey and the safety of your pet.

If you have questions on how to handle your injured pet please call 559-486-0520 and we can provide instruction to limit the risks for both you and your pet.
