IS IT AN EMERGENCY?

This certainly can be a challenging question to answer especially since our team cannot make a diagnosis over the phone. Many diseases can have similar signs but vary in severity. The following lists signs or conditions that would typically be associated with potentially serious conditions.

Hit by a car/vehicle Lameness (limping)
Coughing Wheezing or difficulty breathing
Sneezing Prolonged labor
Pale gums Suspected poisoning
Convulsions/Seizures Exposure to toxin or non-prescribed medication
Excessive thirst Injury
Excessive urination Bloating
Straining to urinate Difficulty urinating
Nasal discharge Facial swelling and/or hives
Trauma Wound and/or laceration
Bloated or distended abdomen Persistent or severe vomiting or diarrhea
Suddenly unable to use a limb Having difficulty giving birth

Ultimately if you have any concerns about your pet’s well being that is reason enough to have you pet seen. We highly encourage you to make an appointment with your veterinarian, if you choose not to use our services.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT…
The goal of Veterinary Emergency Service is to efficiently treat all emergency and critical care patients in order to stabilize them adequately for safe return to your regular veterinarian.

We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. If possible, please call ahead so we can prepare for your pet’s specific emergency. Once you arrive, you pet’s condition and vital signs will be checked by our triage staff. The most critical pets will be seen first. Our veterinarian will perform a physical exam, provide you with a written treatment plan and discuss treatment options with you.

An examination and consultation fee is charged, and an estimate of anticipated medical fees will be provided.  A deposit is required for all patients left at the hospital. Upon release of your pet, you will receive an itemized receipt of medical fees charged for hospitalization care, medications, anesthetics, surgery, imaging and laboratory tests.

All services must be paid in full before the pet is released from the hospital. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, approved checks, MasterCard, Discover, VISA, American Express, ATM and CareCredit financing.

The doctors and staff will consult with your regular veterinarian to ensure proper aftercare. We will expect you to follow all instructions regarding your pet. Plan to consult your regular veterinarian for continued medical advice.
